A Change of Mind

So, I decided against closing my sites and getting rid of my domain names. One of the main reasons is because I already have some of my sites listed in search engines and I would like to keep them listed in those search engines. But, I still have that coupon code for my shops if you still want to save a few bucks when shopping in them, lol. And here’s that coupon code again just in case you forgot it:

A Break From Groups

If you’re in any of my online groups you’ve no doubt noticed by now that it’s been awhile since I shared anything or sent an email about anything. I have been taking a long break from groups and have been focusing mainly on my junk journals and being creative. It’s amazing what you can do when you have a creative idea about something. For years since I started making journals or doing any kind of mixed media or art in general, I never had my own type of style that I could express to others. When I started making junk journals I saw a video on YouTube and started making junk journals like everyone else at the time. Most were of a vintage theme with lots of vintage pages and ephemera all through out them.

For the past few weeks I have been creating some junk journal ephemera like tags, pockets and other stuff that can be used in junk journals. However, I’m not making any vintage themed items like before. Somehow I have come up with my own designs and they express who I am as a person. Now it has been hard to find my own style of design because I have been so busy watching what everyone else is doing and I haven’t been able to do anything that was “me”.

Now, the name I use online as you know by now is “Mod Girl”. And that’s because I love all things from the late 60’s to early 70’s. Which has also been referred to as the “Mod Era”. I have always enjoyed doodling and drawing plants, leaves, flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, etc… and I’ve been adding all these things to my ephemera items that I’ve been working on. The result is what I think expresses who I am as an artist. A little whimsy, a little retro, a little modern and “fun”. Lol. Below are a couple of screen shots that I created so you can see what I’ve been up to:

So, when will I be back to creating and sending tag offers in my online group again? Hmmm, that’s hard to say. I am on a creative spree right now and trying to stop hasn’t been an easy thing to do. I have so much mojo right now it’s simply pouring out of me and into my designs.  When creating the doodles I first draw them with an ink pen and then color them in with either art crayons, watercolor paint or acrylic art markers.  I must confess however that using the watercolors is what looks best to me but it’s much easier using the markers to color them in so that’s what I’m using right now. I guess when the markers run out of “color” I will go back to using the art crayons or watercolors. Lol.

Anyway. That’s what has been keeping me busy lately. And you know, I was sitting here thinking that I have been so scared to try and find my own style because I didn’t know what to do. How I found mine was by accident when I think about it.  I was looking at some coloring books at Etsy and I started thinking about how people come up with those designs that you color and I started coloring in my doodle flowers and decided to paste one onto a journal tag I was making and I liked it. I then started making it pretty by adding stuff to it that would make the flower stand out more and that is how I got started and found my style. And I can tell you that it was a work in progress. Which means I removed some things I didn’t like and added things I did until I got it how I wanted it to look. There was a method to the madness as they say, lol. I am happy that I have FINALLY found my own style of design and I hope you like it as well. I think we all have our own type of style where design is concerned. Some people are just fortunate to find out what they like while some are still trying to find there’s.

And if you are one of those who is still trying to find your own style. DON’T give up. Keep trying. Because one day you might just find it. Hey, stranger things have happened, RIGHT? But seriously, keep trying because I can tell you from experience that when you do find it, you will feel like you are on top of the world. And it’s a really nice feeling. Anyway. Thanks for stopping by and hugs,

My Graphics

Well, the problem I was having at CreativeFabrica has been resolved. Apparently they thought I still had my shop with CreativeFabrica and I kept getting a security popup asking for more private info before I could continue downloading anything. So, thank heavens that has been sorted out.

Also, I had a few questions about my graphics that I make and for some reason after I closed my Mod Girl Graphics site I forgot about adding a page here for people to be about to purchase the subscription for it. Well that has been taken care of today. I added a new page here to my site for just that purpose. The Subscribe button will take you to PayPal where you can make your payment. After you have made your payment I will add you to my online group where all the graphics have been uploaded. The message archive hosts ALL the graphics that I have made and I still upload new stuff whenever I can find the time to make any.

Hubs and I just got over a nasty head cold that lasted for 2 weeks. It was a PITA and I’m so happy to be back to my old self again. Of course there are plenty of other things that do keep me busy so I will need to try and find some time to add new graphics when I can. But for now there are plenty of graphics to keep you busy downloading for a long time. If you don’t know how online groups work it’s where you send an email through the group and members can read the email as soon as they receive it. Now, because there are so many emails that have already been sent you may want to read the emails at the group itself. This will help so your email doesn’t get bogged down with all the emails you will receive each day. To date, I have sent over 3,000 emails through the group and those are all available for download through the message archive.

Oh, and each email that I send may have more than 1 graphic added to it. I try to add between 4 to 5 graphics per email and sometimes more depending on the size of the graphic. The online group will only let you send an email if it’s under a certain size so I have to be careful that I don’t send over the limit per email or I will get an error each time. So, that’s why each email only has around 4 or five graphics added to it.

Anyway, if you’re interested you can visit that page HERE to subscribe. It’s a yearly subscription and after your 1 year has stopped it will ask if you want to re-subscribe again. If you think its a good investment then I’d say go for it. And did I mention that all those graphics can be used in creating tags, email stationery, desktop wallapers, etc..? For more information about my tou please visit my page located HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and hugs, Mod Girl.

My Graphics Site Back Online!

I removed my graphics site and forgot to add it back after I turned it into a paid subscription site, lol. So you can find the link HERE and I just created some new Holiday themed graphics yesterday and I’ll be sharing those sometime next week. Most of them are too large to send through the online group so I need to resize them first. But I will post all of them as soon as I can do that! Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that my graphics site is back online in case you were wondering what happened to it, lol. Yes, I am forgetful sometimes,

Refresh Time!

So, I thought it was time that I did a refresh of my scrapbook graphic sites. I now have 2 sites for scrapbook graphics; 1 for my tagger kits and 1 for digital scrap kits. And I figured that since I make both types of kits I would refresh 2 of my sites to update them. So you can now find all my tagger sized kits located HERE and all my digital kits located HERE. And both links are also added to the sidebar menu too.

And while I was at it, I was playing in Paint Shop Pro the other day and thought I would create 2 new digital scrap kits. And both kits are holiday themed; 1 for Valentines Day and 1 for Christmas. You might want to check them out when you visit my site.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and hugs,
