Locked out of my computer

So, this morning when I woke up, I noticed that my new computer keyboard wouldn’t let me turn up, turn down or even mute my volume. So I went to the website of the company that made my computer and they had some drivers that I could download. The first thing it did was scan my computer for downloads that were available and the number 1 item that came up was the bios. So, I figured I would go ahead and do that first. Well, as soon as my computer restarted all hell broke loose.

It wouldn’t let me use my pin to login so it asked for my Microsoft account info which I gave and because with my old computer I was using a local login and not the Microsoft login, it told me that I needed to verify my account. I tried doing it by email but it wanted more information from me. As in a phone number. So when the box popped up for the phone number I knew something was wrong right away because the last 2 digits it showed were from my home landline phone. Hmm, now it was telling me that it will send me a text and I was like; uh oh. That’s gonna be a problem because I never gave them a cell number because years ago when I created the account it never asked for one and I didn’t even have a cell phone back then anyway.

Now, because it asked for a cell number I had to try a different way to verify my account so I tried changing my login credentials with a different phone number (my actual cell number this time). And it then asked for a Bitlocker key. Now, I don’t remember ever having one of those and the new computer came with the software already on it so now it’s telling me that I have to wait until April before the new cell number can be activated for my Microsoft account.

Anyway, I went online looking for a solution and found that I wasn’t the only one with this problem. MANY people had been locked out of there accounts and all had new computers too. So, apparently this Bitlocker is a software that protects your computer from anyone using but you. And it got me thinking, what if someone stole a computer and they couldn’t use it either because of that Bitlocker thing on it? This is so weird and actually stupid that now my new computer is locked down so I can’t even use it. All I can say is; Thank heavens I kept my old computer because I’m using it right now.

And as soon as I get my computer unlocked, the first thing I’m going to do is disable that stupid Bitlocker thing and change to a local login and NOT Microsoft. I hate Microsoft software and now I know why. They tend to “F” everything up they touch.

Okay, so that’s all my ranting for awhile today, lol. I’m going to go watch tv for awhile now that I got my old computer set back up. You know, I started messing with this whole thing around 7:00 AM this morning and it’s now 2:11 PM. That’s a really long time to deal with this crap if you ask me, lol.
