Cooler Weather Means

Cooler weather for me means doing things inside that keeps me busy. Years ago we started collecting movies in VHF and now we collect them in CD. Over these many years we have collected a wide collection of movies from every genre. When I am tired and not wanting to do much of anything else, I will pop in a movie to watch.

Now, when I am wanting to get busy doing other things I’ll do crafts like making journals or maybe some mixed media art stuff. And when I just want to lie down and watch youtube videos of crafting videos, I will sit there and either crochet, do some hand sewing or cut out some paper items for my junk journals. And now because it is getting cooler outside, it’s also the best time to get out that crockpot and cook up a hearty stew or homemade soup. Growing up in Texas I always liked to have a big bowl of chili during the winter months and when the weather turns cold, it’s a good way to warm up those old tired bones too, lol.

Anyway enough about food, lol. I recently made a crochet throw with white yarn and also left over pieces of yarn from other projects I was working on. I used both yarns together (a white color with the left over colored scraps of yarn) and the result was a colorful creation that turned out better than I expected. I will have to try and take a photo with my new cell phone and add it here so you can see it. And because I’m a newbie to these cell phones, I haven’t figured out how to add my pictures to my website from my phone just yet, lol. I will however figure that out one day and when I do, I’ll be able to show you lots of stuff that I have created over the years.

So, now that I completed that one crocheted throw I am now working on another one because I have so much of that left over yarn. But instead of using the white yarn to also use with the colors of scraps I am using a black colored yarn. Now, I have to tell you. I really liked how that other crocheted throw turned out but this one? I have to say, I like it much better! I didn’t think I would because the colors look so much darker sitting next to the black yarn but the colors just blend in to it so well that I am pleasantly surprised on how it is turning out.

What are you doing during the colder months? Anything in particular? Let me know by leaving a comment below. Thanks for stopping by and hugs,

Ever feel like a dinosaur?

Not that many people know this about me and hubs but we don’t use cell phones. We live out in the country and we have a rather simple life and have been using landline phones for as long as we can remember. We use internet through our phone line (DSL) and have been doing that since our phone company switched names so many times. But, lately we have come to the realization that we are slowly becoming dinosaurs. All those things we have used for years are finally starting to break down or become obsolete. Our landline phone was out for over a week and when the tech guy from the phone company finally came by, he told us that one of our phone lines was shot and there was no sense in adding another to replace it since they were moving away from landline phones.

And, because we don’t want to be sitting here one day when our phones stop working altogether, we have decided to bite the bullet and purchase a cell phone.  Now, I have only used a cell phone a couple of times and that was many years ago. So, I am brand new at this stuff and most of it I don’t even understand. But, I have been doing some investigating on cell phones and found out some interesting things about them.

For example I did not know that you can use a cell phone without the internet. I thought by using a cell phone you HAD to also have internet but that’s not true. Of course if you want your cell phone software to stay up to date it would help to have internet in order to do that and it would make your cell phone more secure. Now that I can understand. All these devices need to be updated with there software each time it needs it. I do have a computer and I know that at least, lol.

Also, you can play games and listen to music on your phone and you can do both of those things without having internet. And although I like the idea of not having to use the internet on my cell phone, it might come in handy down the road if we ever decided to take a trip and we needed a current map to look at. And I also like the idea that while at home I can use my Wi-Fi and not have to use a paid cell phone carrier.

During my investigating of cell phones I also bookmarked some links to videos that show me how to setup my phone before I use it. That will come in handy when my phone gets here. I ordered a phone off Amazon and it’s supposed to be here sometime today (hopefully) and I also purchased a 365 day card for service through TracFone. The phone itself isn’t from TracFone. It’s a Samsung Galaxy phone and it’s unlocked and comes with 2 sim cards so I can use 2 different cell phone carriers if I wanted to.

See, I have done a little homework on this stuff, lol. But I am still a little bit wary about using a cell phone. Mainly because I have been using my old landline for a really long time. But I guess it’s time for an upgrade and maybe I will start to like using these cell phones one day. Maybe. Who knows. Anything is possible, right?

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and hugs,
